IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Else Christensen Officially Retired
Known to many as the Folk Mother, Else Christensen is one of the very few people who can rightly be called a legend in their own lifetime.
This announcement is not intended to detail all her work for Odinism and the Folk, suffice to say she has spent a lifetime in active service for our folk and faith.
Else is maybe best known for her pioneering work with the incarcerated and it is probably true to say that every single incarcerated Odinist has heard of Else and many hundreds have had written contact with her. One way or another she has touched thousands of our people.
As well as her direct correspondence and contact Else also published the Odinist magazine and was the Matriarch of the Odinist Fellowship, which was one of the first Odinist movements in Vinland. She is also probably the only living person outside the Odinic Rite who influenced the OR and from our formation back in 1973 she was a staunch and loyal friend of the Rite. Our loyalty and friendship was always returned and through all the storms which have hit the movement, unlike so many others, she proved she was no fair weather friend but a true friend and supporter as we were to her.
Now at 91 years old this wonderful lady has finally retired. Heimgest has been lucky enough to visit her fairly often since his arrival in British Columbia and was able to meet with her and others close to her as her decision to retire was taken. It has been her wish that the Odinic Rite undertakes her correspondence and takes over her PO Box and safeguards her library. In furtherance to this, her long time aid and supporter Vidarsword has now joined the Odinic Rite. It is an incredible honour that Else wished us to undertake this most important work.
As to the Odinist Fellowship itself, due to its structure it is not precisely clear how this will operate and we are corresponding with a number of individuals who are OF members. We are not interfering with internal decisions of the OF but will extend our hand in comradeship to those who continue to hold her ideals. For our part we are honoured, as said, to carry out her wishes and duties she has made us aware of.
