Like you, I tend to be a skeptic. Thankfully, I don't seem to have many problems that would require an onion BUT -- perhaps the fact I grow and eat a bunch of them is the reason why! LOL This is a great article! Thanks to you! FFF!

Thank you for this post, I absolutely love it. There isn't much that makes me happier than getting to know my ancestors. Time to work on making my own 9 x 9 board with stone, wood, seashell, &/or clay pieces, to be played during the holy days. Reposting this :)

People confuse traditions, mere inventions of long ago social trend setters with universal values. Traditions however widespread and enduring can be arbitrary or even oppressive such as systematic inequality of treatment by race or gender. But universal values are fundamental truths that are recognized everywhere. Even in Nazi Germany it was a crime to murder even Jews outside official channels. Nazi officials often tolerated or even encouraged such murders but not always.

It's not lack of traditions that make people rootless. It's placing arbitrary social trends above fundamental ethics, honesty, and decency.

Great article. It's nice to know there are still people around capable of loyalty and preference.

I have been a Christian for much of my life, but I have come to realize that western man's indifference to his own culture, race, traditions, etc. mainly originate in Christianity. Even though many people now see themselves as secular, their moral roots - and thus multiculturalism and indifference to race, culture and tradtion - come from Christian doctrine which tells people we are all the same (souls) and that we must love our enemies, love everyone and anyone with no concern for who or what they are.

I was briefly considering Asatru before I read a book by Diana Paxon which basically started regurgitating the same Christian doctrine which caused us to arrive where we are today. As you say, it is very depressing just how indifferent people are to their hard won culture and traditions. I see no hope anywhere.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I live in the states and have never been to England.
