While there are about thirty Odinists at our prison (including Ad. Seg), most are individual adherents or belong to the already established Woden’s Folk Kindred. Those of us who have joined the Odinic Rite and have seen its importance felt compelled to fan the flames for a Hearth. For us, the Rite represents a true sense of communal spiritual Order (i.e. “Folk Community“) within the greater general Odinist/Asatru scene and whose wholesome, Folkish ideology closely matches our own.

Often in our lives, we pass what we call “milestones”; pivotal moments we mark as special for one reason or another. This past month, Snowmoon 2256re, marked the passing of no less than four milestones in my present life, and if you will indulge me, I would like to celebrate them with you.

My personal understanding of this Noble calling to Allfather’s service is this. Though serving a life sentence, I can still answer Valfather’s call. That we suffer daily persecution for our beliefs only brings a warrior’s smile because we do not buckle under to this discrimination! No!

It was a long hard fight involving the confiscation of religious reading materials and the loss of our personal rune stones, but it was well worth the time and effort. I would especially like to recognize the efforts of kinsman John Platten now residing in U.S.P. Coleman II for his continual push with the staff here.
