Defending the Archetype

A Great Moot talk by Eowyn OR

I’m just a robot and I know my place
A metal servant to the human race

I work my can off trying to satisfy
I know they’ll disconnect me by and by

Chip on my shoulder made of silicon
My printed circuit’s like a lexicon

Ten billion logic functions, maybe more
They make me pick the paper off the floor

Solitary solenoid
Terminally paranoid
Marvin

Know what makes me really mad
They clean me with a Brillo Pad
A car wash wouldn’t be so bad

Life! Don’t talk to me about life

I’m so depressed I could expectorate
My moving parts are in a solid state

I want to rust in peace, switch off and lie
In that great junk yard in the sky

Solitary solenoid
Terminally paranoid
Marvin

Nothing left to be enjoyed
Every diode rheumatoid
Marvin

Outer alloy
Inner void
Marvin

Happiness has been destroyed(1)

Some of you may recognise these evocative lyrics from a single released in 1981. How many of you here today have ever been able to empathise with Marvin?

How many of you have ever felt utterly burned out by life’s stresses and eternal “to do” lists, as if you just want to flop out- even if it’s only on the junk pile in the attic?

If you can answer “yes” to any of these questions, you most certainly aren’t alone. Currently, we are in the midst of a great Ragnarok.. Everyone here is aware of the sorry state of our lands and heritage thanks to the minions of Loki that parasitise us behind the corporate facade, multinationals such as Big Pharma and Monsanto. And currently, we are in the midst of a great economic depression. Job losses, home repossessions, credit card debt- all are daily news. The most optimistic forecast is that the situation will continue at least until 2016.

Here are some economic statistics from America collated from creditcards.com(2):
Total U.S. consumer debt: $2.43 trillion, as of May 2011.
Average credit card debt per household with credit card debt is $15,799.
Over the past year, the number of unemployed people increased by 1.6 million, bringing the number of total unemployed to 8.8 million.
79 million people are struggling to pay medical debt.
The average college student graduates with nearly $20,000 in debt.

According to “The Guardian,”(3) financial woes and job insecurity are thought to be behind the 43% rise in the use of antidepressants since 2007.

Today’s economic climate is enough to depress anyone. And surprise, surprise, it is Big Pharma, the insurance industries and the petrochemical industry who are profiting from the depression.

As worrying as the financial climate is, it is important to realise that those behind the Great Agenda can literally play the world like a massive game of chess. Profit and greed is involved; but so too is the deliberate manipulation of mass negativity and depression in the collective psyche to their advantage. Just look at how ten years on, the media still pumps out images of 9/11? Eighty years on and we are still being fed relentless propaganda about the two world wars and the evil of the Nazis.

Now I must be clear here: all these events were horrific. Countless Northern Indo-European folk were needlessly slaughtered and families are affected to this day. Vengeance, justice and truth about these events is called for. But as we learned last year, the mourning process should be allowed to give way to regrouping, learning and healing. Conversely, the propaganda maintains not only the raw wound itself, but adds the embellishments of manipulated memory that maintain a psychic timewarp of stress and pain. Make no mistake about it, this is a deliberate outcome and forms an integral part of the “shock and awe” tactics of disaster capitalism. For those interested in esoteric matters, this is very real “occult” activity, the manipulation of the Lokian energy of collective fear on the world stage: “All the world’s a stage” said Shakespeare!

The “shock and awe” tactics are being used globally to manipulate the financial market and people’s behaviours. They are the product of 1950’s covert CIA-funded experiments in electroshock and sensory deprivation, research that helped write the torture manuals used in Guantanamo Bay. The tactics- coined by Naomi Klein as “the shock doctrine”- use the public’s disorientation following massive collective shocks to achieve control by imposing economic shock therapy. Failing that, a third shock is employed to subdue resistance: the electrode in the prison cell or the Taser gun on the streets. It was Milton Friedman, the grand guru of unfettered capitalism, who said that:

”Only a crisis, actual or perceived, produces real change.”(4)

Thus we see:
At the most chaotic juncture in Iraq’s civil war, a new law is unveiled that would allow Shell and BP to claim the country’s vast oil reserves.
Immediately following September 11th, the Bush Administration quietly out-sources the running of the “War on Terror” to Halliburton and Blackwater.
After a tsunami wipes out the coasts of Southeast Asia, the pristine beaches are auctioned off to tourist resorts.
New Orleans’ residents, scattered from Hurricane Katrina, discover that their public housing, hospitals and schools will never be reopened.
The disorder resulting from the Falklands war in 1982 allowed Margaret Thatcher to crush the striking miners and to launch the first privatisation frenzy in a western democracy.(5)

This “disaster capitalism complex” is a global war fought on every level by private companies whose involvement is paid for with public money. The eternal mandate is of protecting the US homeland while eliminating all “evil” abroad. In scale, the “disaster capitalism complex” is on a par with the “emerging market” and IT booms of the nineties. Dominated by US firms, it is a global phenomenon, with British companies bringing their experience in security cameras, Israeli firms their expertise in building hi-tech fences and walls- all of which brings soaring insurance industry profits and super profits for the oil industry. And with the entire process comes environmental devastation, toxic GM foods and unbridled pollution of our air, water and food supplies whilst even our right to health-giving darkened night skies is ripped away by the light pollution of unfettered capitalism.

Is there any wonder then that the ravages of depression, chronic fatigue and other so-called “mysterious” new illnesses, for which there are no obvious signs of cause, are multiplying? Establishment theories abound as to the causes, including genetics, viruses, diet, personality disorders or brain chemistry imbalances. However ultimately, the cause is physical, mental, psychological and emotional stress from these assaults that characterise the Kali Yuga (Wolf Age). Their net effect arrests spiritual evolution: in short, we are experiencing relentless destruction of the archetype.

Now some may well ask: “what is meant by ‘destruction of the archetype?’” Many understand an archetype to be a model of a person, personality, or behaviour- a prototype or idealised form- which is then copied in some way, either via its appearance, patterns or behaviours. It is also understood as a stereotype that is observed multiple times, such as in our perception of the hero or the “puella” (eternal girl) image that is foisted upon girls and women today. Some folk understand the gods from these perspectives: thus Odin may be perceived as the image of a figure wearing a blue cloak, wide-brimmed hat and having one eye being followed by two wolves and two ravens. The problem with this “psychologised” understanding of an archetype is that it is a flat, lifeless pattern resembling a cookie cutter that is superimposed onto something that is a living entity: the map is not the territory.

To understand more deeply what an archetype is, one only has to look at the work of C.G Jung. Clearly, Jung understood the archetype as being a dynamic, living entity that is fundamental to the evolution of our soul parts. The archetype is a primordial image- the instinct’s self portrait- which is inherited with the brain structure as “nodal points” of psychic energy. There are two aspects to it: those which animate and drive the physical and those which drive the soul parts:

“In the realm of the psyche, archetypes organise images and ideas; in the realm of the physis, they organise the structure and transformations of matter and energy and account for acausal orderedness.”(6)

“Archetypes acting simultaneously in the realms of psyche and physis account for instances of synchronistic phenomena.”(7)

Synchrony is an intelligent guidance system. Just recall how you feel when synchronistic events occur in life to appreciate their significance to our evolution. Nietzsche called them “lucky occurrences filled with meaning.”(8)

In essence then, the archetype is the substrate in which our soul parts act; but it is simultaneously the informing principle, the generator of ideas, images, emotions and systems of readiness for action, which are inherited. Like the ultraviolet spectrum of light, it cannot be seen but we know it by its internal and external effects. It is our dynamic informant whose task is to maximise our evolutionary potential at both the personal and collective folk level- the repository of the fylgia and the folk soul.

This font of wisdom is always within us. We have only apparently forgotten because we drank from the well of forgetfulness in the Hel Realms before returning to Midgarth. Our archetypal substrate holds them. The nerves in our body carry the memories that shaped the organisation of the nervous system to certain environmental circumstances and the demands of the organism since time immemorial. Our ancient mythology is designed to harmonise the mind and body, since the mind, with its ego consciousness, can ramble off indiscriminately, desiring things that are actually harmful to our evolution. Our myths and rites are the primordial language that puts the mind in accord with the body and our way of life in accord with Nature’s patterns. The body of myth is the archetype, which roots and grounds us in Her; for we are fractals of the whole, a hologram of Nature and inseparable from Her.

Here I will present a concrete example. Where we live- 2000 feet up in the mountains- we are honoured to witness the annual salmon run that starts at the autumn equinox. This is a great rite of Nature in which the salmon return to the lake at the top of the mountain to spawn. For some, it is their final fling at life before death claims them. There is rhythm to the event: it begins serenely, but as the days dissolve into weeks, there is more urgency and chaos as time for spawning runs out, dog salmon attack others in the shoals and the older and weaker fish die. The battle is intensified as bears, eagles, fishermen, herons and other creatures enjoy a veritable feast until finally, all along the river, the stench of dead fish thickens the air and stillness descends as the last struggling fish finally give in to death and the future is gestating in the lake. Now, every stage of this great rite is vital to the entire ecosystem: the plants and soils rely on the material elements from the dead salmon for the nutrients that sustain the trees and countless lifeforms, including man. Once we knew this archetypal event intimately: we would feel these tides in our blood, bone and sinew just as the salmon do. It is not just a deeply symbolic event, but it is also one that is integral to the survival and thriving of all of Nature, a fundamental, informing pattern upon which the archetype relies and is integral to, a reciprocal, inseparable relationship between our folk and the land. It brings us into direct relationship with our ancestors and the holy Disir and delivers new meaning to the term “ancestors.” For these are physical and psychic energetic patterns that flow through us, suffuse and inform us- nodal points upon which the archetype hangs and which are the archetype. It is Odin hanging on Yggdrasil; it is us.

Now let us once again return to today’s picture of the “disaster capitalism complex” that is animating the Kali Yuga. Most survivors of a disaster instinctively seek to salvage whatever they can and to repair what was not destroyed. As one resident of New Orleans’ heavily damaged Lower Ninth ward reported:

“When I rebuild the city I feel like I’m rebuilding myself.”(9)

This is a natural expression of the archetype working through us, a fundamental compulsion to re-root in the natural, in our physical and spiritual heritage. However, the last thing that believers in the shock doctrine want is a return to any type of status quo that doesn’t serve the agenda. They are convinced that:

“only a great rupture- a flood, a war, a terrorist attack- can generate the kind of vast, clean canvases they crave. And so it is in these malleable moments, when we are psychologically unmoored and physically uprooted, that these artists of the real world plunge in their hands and begin their work of remaking the world.”(10)

Now, it is true that one aspect of evolution rests upon the creation of perturbations- that is, physical, mental, emotional or spiritual challenges to the body and psyche. Indeed, they are essential to the process because without them, we would simply remain static and never progress. Midgarth is the world of action and perturbations are the driving force, the anvil upon which a stronger human being is forged. Collective repetition of specific forms and structural patterns over time has a snowballing effect and species adapt to changes at an accelerated rate of learning. However, the crucial question is this: does that learning include the whole physical and psychic complex (ie the archetype) or does it just address the ego? If the latter, then the learning is false. And such is the pattern presented to us by the movers of the great agenda. It is a pattern that feeds the material realm, our egos and desires, without reference to the needs of the soul that strives for enlightenment. It starves the soul thus destroying the archetype; by actively disconnecting us from Nature, it leaves us unanchored and abandoned, buffeted by the winds of change on a stormy sea. The Nazguls of fear indeed fly freely over Midgarth, stretching Sauron’s shadowy hand far and wide, his fingers clutching our bellies in the whirlwind of a global financial crisis. The resultant Marvin clones are his ideal minions.

Fear then, is the key principle that motivates the machinations of the great agenda. Biologically speaking, the mechanism at the root of the complex of physiological and psychological events we are being attacked by involves traumatisation of a central area within the brain known as the amygdala. The task of the amygdala is to ensure we are safe and its role is to release an appropriate response to anything that it decides is threatening us. This usually involves stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system via the infamously known “fight or flight” response. It is this mechanism that puts us into the psychologically uprooted and malleable state so beloved of the Loki-ites of the Great Agenda. As a natural response to stress that served us for millennia, this biological mechanism was originally designed to allow for short bursts of physical energy pending a recovery period. However, in today’s world, there is an unremitting stimulation of the stress response; it only needs a particularly physically, mentally or emotionally stressful time for the entire body to crash into burnout since every system of the body is therefore compromised. The detrimental effects of this attack is thus responsible for burnout, depression, chronic fatigue and immunological disorders; but it is also at the root of the epidemic levels of hormonal disorders that are sweeping society and as such, is attacking our very personalities, relationships and fertility.

It is interesting to note that the amygdala responds in a stressful way to alien faces- a fact we may not be consciously aware of. For many stressors we are subjected to are subliminal. One would assume that logically, since we have been raised in a multicultural society and evolutionary learning is a perpetual process, we should not be experiencing such a phenomena. However, this is a fine example of the deep consciousness of the instinctual self registering danger- the knowledge of millennia- our ancestral wisdom actively integrating with our modern environment and informing us of its suitability to our evolution. Put another way, it is the wisdom of the archetype experiencing itself through us and recognising a threat to its survival. And threatened we are too: a programme on British TV recently cited the case of Newham in London, where 80% of the inhabitants are of either mixed racial origin or simply alien. This is destruction of the archetype- Odin’s Holy Nation- bigtime. And our beings know it at every level and are responding to it constantly.

We must not however, fall into the trap of thinking ourselves victims of the activities of our amygdala. This is a problem that many facing the burnout syndrome battle with. Either they are condemned as incurable; or, in the absence of a broken appendage or some other malady that can be labelled by conventional medicine, these folk are labelled as psychological malingerers. But as we have seen, the reactions are often subconscious and instinctual- not the product of a lifeless, mechanical mechanism, but of a dynamic, guiding intelligence and the very essence of the godforces within. We have all been trammelled by the fear-mongering to a greater or lesser degree and we all know instinctually the archetype is under attack. That’s precisely why we joined the OR: all of us here feel compelled by our innate archetypal intelligence to resist the attack. It is a noble impulse for which there is no one simple solution; for the attack is on every level- physical, mental, emotional, psychological and spiritual and affects us all differently.

However, knowledge- and its correct use- is power. And in the battle of life, it is necessary to keep one’s friends close and enemies closer still. Or as Sun Tzu said in “The Art of War:”

“So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.”(11)

We might not be able to escape the ravages of the Kali Yuga; but we can observe its patterns and retrain our amygdala so that our stress tolerance rises and our health improves. This then enables us to focus upon our true work- the timeless privilege of nurturing the archetype, the repository of the Odin consciousness. We do this by calming our amygdala and feeding our lifeforce, known variously as chi or prana. This is the indefinable web of interrelated energy flows, the creative and sustaining energy of the very cosmos. When our pranic flow is strong, or increases suddenly, we feel it: a burst of aliveness, goosebumps, the lifting of tensions, clarity, feelings of safety, relaxation, optimism, lightness, freedom, calm, inner peace, vigour, vitality and so forth. Conversely, .when our life force is depleted, or our energy flow is stuck, our body-mind informs us too: we feel fatigued, unsafe, small, constricted, edgy, shut down, bored, out of touch with our body, scattered etc.

Here then is what we can do to increase and strengthen our pranic flow:

Eat healthy, organic- preferably locally grown- wholefoods to provide the essential nutrients from which our bodies can manufacture life sustaining hormones and feed our cells. This also enables the body to effectively detox. These processes are fundamental to the optimum functioning of the physis aspect of the archetype. GM and processed foods disseminate the archetype.

Exercise often for strength, weight regulation, boosting endorphins, relieving stress and to optimise wellbeing.

Get enough sleep in a darkened room. Sleep deprivation creates a host of health problems, increases the likelihood of weight gain and is holistically stressful because it disrupts the circadian rhythms of the body and its systems upon which the functioning of the archetype depends. Sleep deprivation compromises spiritual evolution.

Get outside daily. Sun, air and light (known as heliotherapy) are ancient sources of healing for all sentient creatures and are both physical and subtle sources of nutrition and hence, strength. We need to combat the modern tendency in our lifestyles to starve ourselves of this vital nutrient. Aryan reverence for the sun is not just symbolic; it is deeply rooted in our archaic understanding that the gross and subtle energies of sunlight are the furnace at the core of our very beings and as such, its light brings enlightenment- literally light- to every level of being.

Nurture positivity: try to see the glass as half full rather than half empty. Yet be realistic: life involves troughs aswell as peaks- shit happens! Courageously take action and learn from the experience. Know also that no matter what happens, there is an essential, immortal part of you that is unharmed by life’s events. Objectively observe.

Learn to work, rest and play. And enjoy rest and play without guilt: it is essential to your wellbeing. However, do not take to heart all the advice of the old advertising jingle:

“A Mars a day helps you work rest and play.”

An occasional Mars bar is OK. Too often and like the martial symbolism associated with the planet after which it is named, the sugar wages war upon our bodies, subjecting us to the stress of an over adrenalised system and so making us more vulnerable to the ravages of the archetype’s war in which we are embroiled- all whilst putting money into the pockets of the foe. Instead, eat a healthy, organic apple, (symbolic of Venus, our morning star that represents peace, plenty, love, the Golden Age and the “food of the gods” dispensed by Idun). Contemplate these ideas: for they are a great lesson in the way the foe works. Here they take three natural needs and twist them almost imperceptibly to feed their agenda. This jingle by Mars Incorporated says it all!

Celebrate blots and daily rituals. These create vibrations which multiply to effect powerful physical and psychic changes. They are the archetype’s essential patterns and principles

Live by the nine noble virtues and nine charges. This fosters integrity, which is the harmony of resonances within the soul that empower the archetype. And just like an exquisite instrument, the finer its quality, the more beautiful its expression.

Meditate and breathe to calm the amygdala. Breathing correctly is one of the most fundamental ways of generating powerful pranic flow and in itself, has the archetypal cyclical patterning. A whole body of esoteric knowledge surrounds breathing; yet few of us breathe properly though it is our greatest resource of energy: we can only endure a few moments without breathing. Life is breath.

Ladies and gentlemen, comrades of the Odinic Rite, here is my timeless message to you:

“We are warriors from the most holy wars, from a mythical, eternal, cosmic war. Because there is a myth to be defended, for which to fight and die, inside and out.”

“….we are fighting so as to preserve a myth, a legend which flows through the “blood memory.” Defeat in the battles of this war will not be defeat if the myth is preserved in all its purity, because the archetype will rise like a phoenix from the bloodstained ashes.”(12)

Noble folk, we are the archetype. And we shall rise again!

Hael Hyperborea and the Golden Age!
Hael Odin-Wotan, the lightning and the sun!
Hael the Rite!
