Einherjar 987 AD

By Juleigh Howard-Hobson AOR

To claim the future’s birthright as their own

The einherjar, reborn on old blood lines

To old families all, came back. Winds had blown

Bitter change since they last entered time:

No more tall Thor poles guarded hof and hill

No longer did Odin hear his name sung

Out in blot and sumbel. All gone. Yet still

Their people lived. For this Allfather hung

Nine days and nine nights? For this mighty Tyr

Gave his hand so that Fenris, Loki’s son,

Might not destroy the worlds? What kind of wyrd

Had Midgard wove? What deeds were left undone

By those who died so that when they returned

Everything they had died for…overturned?
