To Each His Own

by Ludwig Fahrenkrog (translation by Hariulf OR)

Your dark churches do not please me!
I prefer the bright and shining sun!
And my women are a thousand times more dear to me
Than your painted Madonna

And the son that my wife gave me
Is a thousand times more dear to me
Than your crucified son
With his legs and arms twisted.

I do not like all that is alien to this world
What is cold, withered and lifeless.
I love life, joy and light
And the red and fluctuating blood.
