OR Media is beginning a phase of recruitment with the intention being to use the many considerable skills which may be found throughout the Odinic Rite’s membership.

There have been a number of direct email replies to an OR Forum post requesting talented individuals.

OR Media is looking for more musicians – both amateur and professional – and also intends to make use of producers, directors and other members skilled in the use of video equipment. Our music ranges through every taste, yet is folkish to the core, and our video venture will encompass interviews and even plays or other artistic interpretations captured on film, also comprising a folkish element.

There are two main aims to the OR Media project. Firstly we wish to create original material in order to entertain, in the form of music to be played and sung at OR events. Secondly we wish to showcase the OR to the world both in terms of serious information regarding the OR – its principles, structure and ‘raison d’etre’ – and also promoting pure, bright, uplifting folkish entertainment. Yet our entertainment of course holds a powerful message, just like the myths and legends of old.

The Woodland Chimes

With the first whisper of spring in the air, new life is preparing to burst forth from the previously frosted earth. Odinists are in tune with the natural cycles of Midgard, and springtime is one of the most inspiring of seasons.

It is with this in mind that OR Media issues a clarion call to its musically inclined members – we need you to dust of that guitar, pick up that fiddle, cast your fingers over those ivory keys and let the coming sunshine, the blossoms and the birdsong inspire you to write new music for our ongoing, ever-evolving project.

Let the woodland chimes breathe life into your soul and unleash your musical potential for the good of the Rite!

Folk Spirit – From Idea to Reality

What started as an idea, an imaginative spark, has now become reality. The first OR Media music project, indeed the whole concept for OR Media itself, came from the raw beginnings of a simple concept – to promote the Odinic Rite and Odinism through the medium of music, and to form a collection of folk songs which would power a new generation of forward-thinking Odinists.

Many ideas are regularly formed by many well intentioned folk, but few ideas are fully realised. Yet a simple thought was readily put into action by members of the Odinic Rite, and the result, Folk Spirit, awaits carefully timed distribution.

The time and effort an individual needs to put aside to compose and record a track cannot be underestimated. The Odinic Rite is a family organisation and its members have deep commitments to their work, children, partners and a thousand things besides musical projects, so it is an achievement itself that so many original tracks were submitted to OR Media for consideration.

And despite having completed such a huge task, OR Media is already looking forward and considering new projects to undertake. We would like to release more music over the coming years, and for this we require Odinists who are willing to enter the realm of music, poetry and composition and put their passion, spirituality and folkish understanding into words and songs.
